  Salomon Pilot 9 Pro 2 '05

Year acquired: 2005 March

Salomon Pilot 9 Pro 2 is a Salomon 2005 model.

Received a pair as replacement of the skates I have sent to Salomon for repair last summer.

Frames: 275mm
Tension Force 4 Wheel 90, aluminum series 6000
Hi-Low configuration is adopted. "Max-low Set up": 3 big wheels with one small (2nd wheel) wheel on the same chassis for smoother ride purpose.
They are relatively softer frames. I like littel longer frames, so 275mm frames feel a bit unstable. Probably good for cones.

Wheels are too soft to me. 3 of 90mm81A and one 84mm81A.

Bearings are great. ILQ 9 is the latest technology developed by Twincam. They are 608Z, but free spin is as long as Twincam Micro. ILQ has only 6 balls, but each ball is larger, so the weight of bearing is more or less as same as standard ABEC 608 (or 608Z or ZZ).

Boots construcdtion: Salomon boots are always great to me and this pair is not an exception. Minimal cuff design is good, but the cuff bucke must be reconsidered. The free end of the buckle comes to inside of calves and causes occasional catching of the other one.
Lace is waxed speed lace. Nice. There is one velcro power strap for heel support.

Overall rating of this pair of skates is "acceptable". Great boots and bearings, but frames are little too short to me. I do not like wheels either. I will use this pair probably for cones by replacing wheels.
